Austria is landlocked and bordered by no fewer than eight different countries. To the north is Germany and the Czech Republic. The south of Austria borders with Italy and Slovenia, the east has Hungary and Slovakia and the west has neighbouring Switzerland and Lichtenstein.

If you're more of an active type and not looking for beaches then Austria is definitely worth considering. Beautiful lakes and countryside, and the snow capped mountains of the Alps present you with a picture postcard look that will take your breath away.

Fabulous skiing in winter and hiking in summer :

The slopes are buzzing in winter with Skiing, ski safaris, snowboarding and tobogganing. The capital Vienna is alive with Christmas Markets, and is a haven for opera lovers all year round.

Summer is popular for Austria vacations with fishing and canoeing, golf, walking and hiking, climbing and mountain biking, so there is always plenty to do whatever time of year you visit.

Culture, history, sophistocated shopping and eating :

Austria is one of Europe's most picturesque countries, Salzburg, a World Heritage Site, has it's "Old Town" with its famous architecture making it a favourite with tourists.

Vienna has wonderful shopping, with the longest shopping street, Mariahilfer Strabe, offering almost all major department stores.

And when your feet are sore you can sample the coffee shops where you will be tempted with the most delicious cakes and pastries.

Eating in Austria is a delight. Traditional Austrian cuisine, with an Italian and Hungarian influence will make your mouth water, and after your meal, the famous Austrian wines and cheeses will go down a treat.

You can choose your ideal accommodation from a good selection of Austria Hotels, or for something a little more private, Vacation Rentals. For self guided tours and people on the move there is also the choice of excellent value Hostels & Budget Accommodation on offer.

My Vienna Vacation
My Vienna vacation was an eye opener in culture. The place has style and the mountain scenery is absolutely stunning. It may be paradise for skiers in winter, but summer here is heaven. A fantastic vacation.
