The best times to visit Greece are Spring and Autumn. Summer can get very hot with temperatures rising to over 30C, and heatwaves are common. Winters tend to be cool, with a fair amount of rainfall.

Greece is an absolute haven for water sport fanatics. The beaches are alive with activities including scuba diving, snorkeling, water skiing, surfing and windsurfing, or just some good old fashioned sunbathing, sailing on beautiful blue waters, or exploring the islands.

Greece has many islands to explore :

1400 islands to be exact, although only 169 are inhabited. The islands are a favourite for Greece vacations, with Corfu, Rhodes, Kos and Crete, the largest and most beautiful, among the most popular destinations.

On the islands it is still possible to find secluded beaches to enjoy solitude and tranquility in the natural beauty of the surroundings.

From the mainland there are many island cruises, and this is the best way to explore the country. Wherever you go you are guaranteed to find a taverna nearby and you will be lured by the smell of freshly baked bread or fish. And eating in Greece is a pleasure not to be missed.

The capital is rich in history and culture :

If you go for the history, you won't have to leave Athens. A beautiful city with a unique blend of modern buildings and archaeological sites await you, and there are some very good history vacation tours on offer.

The Acropolis, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Roman Forum and Hadrian's Arch are among the most visited attractions, and traditional song and dance festivals are among the cultural delights to experience.

Eating in Athens is more cosmopolitan now due to the influence of Japanese, French and Italian cuisine, and many first class restaurants are to found in this vibrant city.

You can choose your ideal accommodation from a good selection of Greece Hotels, or for something a little more private, Vacation Rentals. For self guided tours and people on the move there is also the choice of excellent value Hostels & Budget Accommodation on offer.

The pace of life in Athens can be quite hectic at times, and as far as I can remember, my biggest problem was trying to cross the road.

A small problem really, Greece vacations are highly recommended.

My Athens Vacation
On my second Athens vacation I knew why I'd come back. There are plenty of cruises from Athens to the Islands, and the one I recommend is the one-day three island cruise to Aegina, Poros and Hydra.
